Women everywhere desire beautiful, luscious lips. The truth is soft, full lips make your face look healthy and beautiful. But how do you get your lips to look amazing? Here are some ways to plump up, protect and baby your lips to bring out their most beautiful pucker.
Exfoliate and Moisturize
Lips tend to dry out and become chapped and cracked easily, especially during the winter. If you want healthy, full lips, the first step is to keep them moisturized. However, before moisturizing, you must remove dry, flakey skin. You probably already exfoliate your face and body, but did you know that lips benefit from exfoliation also? For easy, at-home exfoliants – apply a dab of sugar and honey to your lips and rub gently, using small circular motions or apply a dab of Vaseline and lightly scrub with a soft toothbrush.
For store bought exfoiliants, try Sugar Lip Scrub by Hanalei Company, made with raw cane sugar and Hawaiian kukui nut oil. Raw cane sugar crystals help gently exfoliate, while oil and shea butter moisturizes lips. Another product to try is Beauty by Earth lip scrub vanilla that contain natural oils, beeswax, sugar and natural flavoring.
After exfoliating, apply a gentle moisturizer so lips stay smooth and supple. Look for a nourishing lip balm made from natural and organic ingredients like shea butter, almond oil, aloe, tea tree oil and natural waxes, like beeswax. These ingredients help seal in moisture. Avoid lip balms that contain alcohol and salicylic acid. Alcohol is often used as a preservative in cosmetics, but it is drying to the skin. Salicylic acid will cause your lips to peel and flake.
Systeme 41 is a non-toxic, deeply hydrating, moisturizing and protecting lip treatment. This moisturizer is enhanced with essential fatty acids from the highest quality oils such as sunflower, macadamia and kukui to naturally rehydrate the lips. Included is rosehip seed oil, known to promote collagen and elastin levels to aid in renewing and maintaining healthy skin.
Avoid parabens and fragrance, which can be irritating. Also, avoid camphor and menthol, which can dry lips. Instead, look for ingredients that help lips hold onto moisture. These include glycerin, mineral oil, aloe, lactic acid and sorbitol, lanolin and beeswax.
Pump Up the Volume
For long-term lip plumping, you will need to visit a dermatologist’s office where hyaluronic acid fillers is injected into the lips. However, there are lip-plumping glosses that provide a temporary effect. These are often infused with circulation-boosting essential oils like cinnamon and ginger.
LipBloom Lip Plumping Enlargement Gel is a collagen-building treatment that delivers instant moisture and hydrates lips. LipBloom’s exclusive technology increases lip size safely and painlessly by stimulating lips to produce their own collagen. Also, try Smashbox O-PLUMP Intuitive Lip Plumper with Goji Berry-C Complex.
