Painful as the finale to last football season was, the NFL now has a new rule allowing coaches to challenge missed pass interference calls because of the debacle that was the NFC Championship, and it’s time to prepare ourselves for a new season. One occasion that always gets me going for the upcoming season is The Manning Passing Academy (MPA), sponsored by Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. It’s one of my favorite events because not only do I get to catch up with the Manning Family, but I also get an up-close look at some of the nation’s top college quarterbacks. This year’s Academy is going to be better than ever because it includes an MPA Ladies Football Clinic that benefits Sideline Pass! (www.sidelinepass.org)
The MPA Ladies Football Clinic will kick off MPA weekend on Wednesday, June 26th starting at 6:00 pm. The cost is just $30. The girl boss who ran a similar camp for Archie and Eli at Ole Miss is spearheading this endeavor, Chyna Sinervo.
“Women love football!” Chyna says. “In all the years that I’ve organized clinics, I’ve seen young and old fans alike, all there to learn more about their teams. They’re hungry to have a greater understanding of the game and to feel a part of the program. My hope is that each year we keep building on the knowledge shared from the previous year, and that helps participants to feel more connected to their team and coaches – all in a fun way. I love seeing all the smiling faces! It’s so heartwarming to see mothers, daughters and even grandmothers all attending the event together.”
The MPA Ladies Football Clinic will be organized into four quarters and will give participants first-hand knowledge of what football is like behind the scenes from experts like Nicholls State Head Football Coach, Tim Rebowe. When you have a better understanding of what’s happening on and off the field, it will make watching games that much more fun this fall.
We’re also putting together amazing raffle packages that include signed memorabilia from Archie, Peyton and Eli…as well as gift certificates and other prizes like designer jewelry from reality TV star and Sideline Pass Board Member, Reagan Charleston. All proceeds benefit Sideline Pass, which is dedicated to mentoring and empowering young women in South Louisiana, especially girls living in foster care or financially-challenged female athletes.
Sideline Pass will use the night’s proceeds to help at-risk female athletes participate in organized sports. When you hear about young ladies who are trying to run track with the toes cut out of old tennis shoes because they’ve outgrown them and can’t afford a new pair, it breaks your heart.
Registration is now open for the Manning Passing Academy for Ladies. To reserve your spot, go to:www.manningpassingacademy.com. We look forward to seeing individuals and groups. Last year, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center sent several ladies who enjoyed a fabulous girls’ night out and jump started their knowledge of the game. I can’t wait to see more fanatic female fans this year, as we grow this clinic into one of the best in the country and help our fellow females at the same time!
